He married (1) MATILDA LEWIS 18 April 1867 in Lewis County, West Virginia. He married (2) ANZINA L. DUNCAN 29 December 1896 in Lewis County, West Virginia.

Notes for HENRY BLAINE HARPER:
Henry Harper enlisted with his brother, Peter, in Co A, 10th WV Vol Infantry at Camp Pickens in WV, 17 Jan 1862 as a private for a period of 3 yrs (military records). He was a 22-yr-old farmer at the time of his enlistment. He was discharged at Chapins Farm, Va on 12 March 1865 per expiration of term of service. Military records describe him as 5'10", dark complexion, black hair, black eyes, and a farmer by occupation.

4. JOHN NEWTON4 HARPER (WILLIAM3, PETER2, NICHOLAS1) was born 27 July 1854 in Laurel Run, Lewis County, West Virginia, and died 27 December 1941 in Braxton Co, West Virginia. He married HATTIE BELLE LONGFELLOW 25 December 1880 in Roane County, WV, daughter of MICHAEL LONGFELLOW and MARTHA HARRIS.
