Notes for John B. McCool: 1. According to C. F. Smith, John McCool remained in (or returned to?) SC with his family after his parents migrated to Ohio County, KY by 1808. Grace Hall says he stayed in the Booneville, IN area, and was at one time in the Golconda, IL area.

3. The 1850 census of Newburgh So., IN shows John 52 of SC a wagonmaker, Mary 40 of VA, Hiram 19 of KY, William 17 of IL, Mary 8 of IN, Thomas 4 of IN, Margaret 3 of IN, Martha 1 of IN, and Albert 3 mo. of IN.
4. The 1860 census shows John 60, Mary (Polly) 50, Thomas 14, Margaret 13, Mary E. 18, and Joseph Lane 9.
5. The 1870 census shows John 70, Mary 65, Thomas 22, and Joseph 19. They do not appear on the 1880 census. Thomas died in Joplin, MO so some of the family could have gone there.
