John Parrish is first mentioned in the Goochland County, Va. area in the late 1720's in regard to some land transactions. He also patented 400 acres of land in 1734 on the Wild Boar Branch of the Treasurers Run. He died in 1751 in Goochland County, Va. without a will. There was an inventory of his estate that listed his personal posessions. Among these were some cattle, horses, farming impliments and home furnishings. His land, approximately 200+ acres, was divided among his three sons. Brissey Parrish was the eldest of his children. Brissey later sold his inheritance to his brother William. Brissey then moved to Granville County, N.C. and apparently farmed until his death in 1790.
