Old George was born Feb. 25, 1883 and was the only child of George Henry Newman Sr. and Isabella Captain to live beyond childhood. George's father died seven months before he was born. George married Martha Payne Moore and was a step-father to her children Ellie, Howard, Sterling and Verlie. He died May 22, 1950.
