Thomas McLaughlin may have taken the naturalization oath in Federal Court, Annapolis, MD on 09 OCT 1788.(Libber JG#1, folder 6).The family lived in Ireland, Maryland, Fayette County and Greene County, Pennsylvania.Most of this information in this sketch came from Myrna Keys, who has done extensive research on this family.He and His wife, Jane, were living in Redstone TWP, Fayette Co., PA in 1810 and moved to Green County in 1811.The following deeds were recorded in Fayette County.
1.13 FEB 1787: Thomas McLaughlin and wife Nancy bought land.
2.7 DEC 1812:Thomas Mclaughlin bought land.
3.3 NOV 1819:Thomas McLaughlin sold land to his son, Neal.
4.4 July 1809:Mary Estell to Thomas McGaughlin, a lot in Franklin Twp.
5.14 OCT 1809: Thomas McGaughlin sold same piece of land to John McGlaughlin.
Thomas McLaughlin's will was drawn on 13 Aug 1833 but was filed on Jan 25, 1840 and gave the following family information.Beloved wife; JaneMcLaughlin, sons and daughters; Thomas McLaughlin, John McLaughlin, James McLaughlin, Margaret Collins, Nancy Maple, and Jane Hostutler.Also named was a granddaughter, Anne Maple, Daughter of Sarah Kiger and another granddaughter Christina, daughter of Michael McLaughlin, Deceased.Benjamin Maple and Lewis Headlee were named as executers of the estate.The estate was not settled until 1853 after the death of Jane in 1853.In a deed of 11 April 1854, John Maple JR. sold the home farm to James Hoy.Jane Mclaughlin and Benjamin Maple died before 1853 so John Maple was appointed execution.

and being of sound mind and memory, Blessed by Almighty God for the same, do make, publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say first I will and bequeath unto my beloved wife Jane McLaughlin all my real and personal Estate during her natural life after my debts being first paid and after the death of my beloved wife Jane McLaughlinif any real and personal Estate if any be left I will and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder ofmy real and personal Estate to my sons and daughters, grandsons and daughters in manner following that is to say I will that the real and personal estatebe sold after the death of my beloved wife Jane McLaughlin and the money to equally divided between my following sons and daughters that is to say my sons Thomas McLaughlin, John McLaughlin, James McLaughlin, my daughter Margaret Collins, Nancy Maple, Jane Hostutler That is to say the last above memtioned heirs to have an equal share after I will and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Kiger one hundred and fifty dollars, my Grand Daughter Anne Maple, daughter of Sarah Kiger fifty Dollars, my Grandson John McLaughlin, son of Edward McLaughlin, deceased, one hundred dollars, my grandson Thomas McLaughlin, son of my son John McLaughlin, one hundred dollars, my grandaughter Christina McLaughlin, daughter of Michael McLaughlin, Deceased, fifty dollars to be paid and delivered unto my Grandsons and Grand Daughters at their several respective ages of twenty one years if my beloved Jane McLaughlin should depart this life previous to the time of their becoming to that age and if my beloved wife should not depart this life before any or all of my grandsons anddaughters arive at the age of twenty one years of age their shall not be any money paid to them until after her death a reasonable time to make sale of my property before mentioned and my will is in case if any of my sons and daughters or grandsons and daughters within mentioned should depart this life before time mentioned shall depart this life they shall receive their legacies equally devided among the Survivors or survivor of them share and share alike and to be paid to such Survivors or survivor at the time aforesaid.I also hereby appoint Benjamin Maple and Lewis Headlie executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former with by me meade in witness where I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and thirty.his

Notes for Jane MOORE:
Jane's father may have been James Lucas and her mother Catherine???. See deed dated 1 April 1808 where James Lucas sold Jane and Thomas Mclaughlin 270 acres in Greene County for the sum of 100 cents.(Will Book 2, Page 548).Since the price is so low for so much land some family relationship is likely.However, Mrs. Dorothy Hennen indicated that she had found evidence that Jane was the daughter of Dr. John Moore.
