I am researching the James PARKER family of Eastern Kentucky. The earliest record I have of James PARKER is his service in the army during the War of 1812. He was a volunteer in the 13th Kentucky Militia, having enlisted at Manchester, Clay County, Kentucky on 1 March 1813. He was wounded and captured by the British at the Battle of Fort Meigs, Ohio on May 5, 1813. He was released by the British after a few days, and continued to serve until he was discharged at Franklinton, Ohio (now Columbus, Ohio) on July 1, 1814. He appeared on the census of Clay County, Ky in 1820 and then I lost track of him until 1838, when he appeared on the tax rolls of Lawrence County, Ky. He was on the 1840, 1850, and 1860 census of Lawrence County. He died in 1866 at the age about 84.
James married about 1818, possibly in Clay County, Ky to Sarah LOWER, daughter of Andrew and Eva LOWER.
