Notes for DENISE FRANCHINI:

There seems to be some mystery surrounding Denise's death. Many family members remember various stories about the event. One story, remembered by Roy Herweck, was that she had some sort of relatively routine illness and operation, but that there were complications (like peritinitis) which would likely have been avoided today. Other theories discussed/remembered at the family reunion in August, 2001 included everything from bulemia to complications from a miscarriage or abortion. Adding to the confusion was a disagreement over whether she had one or two children who had died in infancy. There was a pervasive sense that the family at the time had blamed the doctors for her death.
