Joseph Wagers was the son of James A. Wagers and Mourning Park (daughter of Asa Park, Eb Park, Sr.'s son) making him Asa's Grandson and Eb's Great Grandson!! Sgt Joseph Wagers (s/o James Anderson Wagers, Sr. and Mourning Park) b. Mar 1, 1838, Estill Co. KY, d. Apr. 13, 1888, Frankfort, KY m. Roseline Pinkerton Shepherd Jul 30, 1868 in Irvine, Estill Co. KY (she was born Dec 7, 1842 and died Apr 13, 1941!). Rose was the daughter of Andrew & Cynthia Ann Moore Shepherd. Joseph & Rose are buried at the Richmond Cemetary, Richmond, Madison Co. KY.
Joseph & Rose had 5 children:
1.Andrew Hayden Wagers (1870-1935) m. Margaret Collins 1903 (my great grandparents)
2. Mona "Helen" Wagers (1873-1961) m. George Stevenson 1895
3. Annie Losie Wagers (1876-1919) m. Tom King
4. Joseph James Wagers ( 1880-1949) m. Nora A. Williams 1911
5. Harry Shepherd Wagers (1883-1946) m. Gladys Anita Oren 1916.
Most notably, Joseph was among the 6 men who bravely erected the U.S. flag up on Lookout Mountain during the Civil War with Rhoda Dillingham-Park's son, Capt John Wilson.
