Take a look at 2 of my cousins I discovered at work! There is myself, Marc Gumm and Jaclyn Witt. Marc Gumm's 3rd Great Grandmother, Mariah Park is a Great Niece to Ebenezer Park (1747-1839), my 5GGF, by way of Eb's older brother, John Park III of Hampshire County, VA/WV. Mariah's daughter, Emily Park-Gum of Estill Co., KY, is Marc's 2GGM. Emily's son, William H. Gum married Addie Witt (Marc's Great Grandparents). Marc and I share the same 5th-8th GGPs (his maternal, my fraternal), while he and Jackie share 5 sets of fraternal GGPs! If didn't have my knowledge on our family tree and allied families, I would never have realized our blood-ties, nor would the three of us have the bond that we enjoy as "family" members beyond our AF affilliation. Marc and I have known we were cousins since 1999; 2nd Lieutenant Jaclyn Witt, who arrived in our unit in Jan of this year, is the newest addition to our now, family tree-triad! This brings to mind a quote of mine entitled "Genealogy and Our World": "The world is made even smaller and families larger, when one enjoys the enlightenment and wisdom that only genealogical knowledge can bring".
