The Ambler-Patterson Family Home Page

I am researching my husband's family and my own. Some of the surnames included are: Patterson, Bush, Strayhan, Forster, McCabe, and Harper, just to name a few. My husband's family is mainly from the South--Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina. My family is a mix, but seems to be primarily from the North and dates back to before the Revolutionary War. My father, Peter S. Ambler, has done quite a bit of genealogy research on his side of the family--in fact, his quite puts my little bit to shame. I have included some of his information with my own--it all looks wonderful together!

  Richard and Kittie Forster were married on Dec. 29, 1868 in Terre Haute Indiana. This is their marriage certificate (his name is misspelled). Included are their locks of hair.
• Richard Forster Civil War Pension application (315 KB)
  Civil War soldiers were eligible to apply for a pension for their service after the year 1890. Kittie Harper Forster applied for the pension in Richard's name.

• About Hannah Forster -- per her daughter Henrietta (13 KB)
  Hannah Forster is not in our direct line. She was sister to Richard Forster, Sr. (b. 1806 in Pennsylvania). These "memoirs" were given to me by a cousin who is in Hannah Forster's line. I thought the references to Hannah's early life and even Henrietta's experiences were interesting and certainly part of our family history.
