Selected pages from the 1862 and 1865 diaries. The upper two pages show his presence at the battle of Shiloh in March, April, 1862. The lower three pages show events near the Grand Review of the Union Armies in Washington, D.C, May, 1865. General Grant reviews the army of the Potomac and the Army of Georgia. The last entry in the diary states, "Lent 15 dollars to father", Friday, October 27, 1865.
