Notes for Enoch Bennett: The first child born to William M. Bennett by his second wife, Rebecca Pittman, was Enoch. His birth is recorded in the old family Bible as June 31, 1817. He supposedly returned to Kentucky after the family came to Indiana sometime during the 1820's or 1830's. A search of the Kentucky records at Bardstown reveals that an Enoch Bennett married Amy Tewell Sept. 2, 1877. It is possible that this is Enoch who was the second son of William M. Bennett, although not certainly, for another Enoch Bennett is known to have lived in Kentucky at about the same time. Daniel Bennett also has a son, Enoch, but he lived at an earlier period, having married Elizabeth Muster in July 1813 - before William M's son was born. |
