      24. Theodore H. Hammond, born February 13, 1869 in Orange Co., Indiana; died March 16, 1916 in Orange Co., Indiana. He was the son of 48. Isaac Hammond and 49. Susannah Harmon. He married 25. Nancy E. White March 31, 1888 in Orange Co., Indiana.

      25. Nancy E. White, born March 14, 1869 in Orange Co., Indiana; died Bet. 1920 - 1930. She was the daughter of 50. Stephen G. White and 51. Grace Ellen Davis.

Notes for Theodore H. Hammond:
Theodore H. Hammond and Nancy E. White were married on March 31, 1888 in Orange County, Indiana. There were both just 19 years of age. They resided in Greenfield Township, Orange Co., Indiana.

After about three months of marriage, Nancy became pregnant with their first child, W. Floyd Hammond, who was born on Nancy's twentieth birthday, March 14, 1889. Theodore and Nancy's first daughter, Edna, came two years and one month later, on April 26, 1891, when Theodore and Nancy were just 22 years old. In the Fall of 1893, When Floyd was 4 years old, and Edna 2 years, Dennis Hammond was born. Millard came about 2 1/2 years later in the January Winter of 1896.

By the time Theodore and Nancy were 27 years of age, they already had four children. Theodore was working as a farmer to support his family.

In 1903, when Theodore was 34 years old, his mother, Susannah Harmon Hammond, age 58, passed away. She had suffered from Tuberculosis for 8 months prior to her death, and Asphyxia during her final 4 days. The family buried her in Youngs Creek Cemetery in Orange Co., Indiana.

The death of Theodore's mother was sure to have taken a toll on the family. Perhaps, realizing how short life is, it was after the death of Susannah, that Theodore and Nancy decided to have more children. Raymond Clifford Hammond was born two years later, on November 10, 1905, when Theodore and Nancy were 36 years of age.

Another tragedy struck the Hammond family In 1908, just two years after Raymond's birth. Theodore's two youngest brothers, Charlie and Arthur, suffering the same fate as their mother, passed away from Tuberculosis. Charles and Arthur were buried in Hancock Cemetery in Orange Co., Indiana.

By 1911, Theodore and Nancy had five children, ages 21, 20, 17, 14, and 5. Their family probably seemed complete, but I guess they had other plans (or maybe not!), because on January 03, 1911, their last child, Clarence P. Hammond was born.

I am sure Clarence brought much joy to the family, especially after they had experienced so much heartache from the deaths of Susannah, Charlie, and Arthur.

However, the hearthache wasn't over for the Hammonds. In 1914, Floyd, age 25, died from Thyphoid Fever, and Edna, age 23 died from Tuberculosis. Two years later, on March 16, 1916, Theodore, age 47 also died from Tuberculosis, leaving his wife, Nancy, age 47, and sons, Dennis, age 22, Millard age 20, Raymond, age 14, and Clarence, age 5. Floyd, Edna, and Theodore were buried along side Charlie and Arthur in Hancock Cemetery.
