Notes for Michael Hargan:
On the tombstone of Michael Hargan at Patterson Chapel Cemetery, Ft. Knox Military Reservation, Ky., states "At the age of 16, Michael immigrated, with two sisters, from Ireland to New York, circa 1768. On 10 Feb 1776, he enlisted in the 1st Penn. Regimant as a rifleman, at Hagerstown, Maryland and served 14 months in the Continental Army with Captain John Nelson, under the command of Colonel De Hoss. On 3 Aug 1791 Michael married Elizabeth Wallingford at Berkeley, Virginia. A land grant of 400 acres from Patrick Henry, Governor of Virginia, enabled Michael and family to locate on the Rolling Fork River, which later became part of Hardin County, Ky. Here he remained until his death."

Children listed on the marker are Joseph, Rebecca, George, James, Benjamin, Mary (Polly), Prudence, and Daniel. All the children were born in Kentucky.

At the October 15, 1832 term of County Court Michael Hargan certified that he was a Revolutionary War soldier with Joseph Rider, James O'Daniel, William Humphrey, and Forest Davis.
