Notes for W
ILLIAM HENRY HILL:
It is Family Legend that Henry Presley Hill's Father was found on a door step and raised by the Hill family. He might have been a Rice, and of Irish Decent according to family legend.
FOUND him in the 1900 census in Harris Twp. stone co., He lists his parents as being born in North Carolina. his occupation as farmer. Wife's name Aletha J.,Her parents born in Tn. John P as age 19. Married 26 years age 60. Next door William & Josephine Crews who later brought land from the Hill family.
Rolland Gillihan (Annie's son) relayed the story that when Grandpa Henry lived in White Co. there was a girl that some man was hurting and he (Henry) went across the bob wire fence to help her and the man cut him across the stomach and when he climbed back across the fence his insides caught and ripped them out. He didn't know if that killed him or not but that's what he has heard all his life. Marie & Hubert had also heard this story.
From the Ark Archives I received a document requesting a Confederate widows pension. It lists Henry as William Henry death date 4/4/1905. Also lists Janes birthday 7/4/1850. It states he served in the Infantry of Tenn. Witnesses W.W. Jeffery and R.H. Hanks stated they had heard him talk of his service and had known him 15 years, but he had lost his papers of discharge in a fire. Claim was disallowed, reason not known. Roland & Hulda Hanks were living 6 houses away in the 1900 census
In Stone Co. Record of Voters (Harris Township) he was listed as voting every year from1896 thru 1905. Have copy of 1896 voters.
Social Security Application of Piercy Hill lists father as William Henry Hill and mother as Alethy Jane Fowler. He applied 2-1-1941,

Notes for A
LETHA JANE MELVINEY FOWLER:
* *Last name may be spelled Faller * Found it spelled this way on A.B. Death certificate given by Abbie Hill also on a SS application by son.
Jane Hill lived in slave times and her father and mother had slaves and maids and lived on a big plantation in Tenn. One of her nursemaids was named Lucy and that is who Lucy Hill Moody is named for. She was a full blood Dutch according to family legend. She stood 4' Tall. medium built, black hair when young turning grey as she got old. Dark brown hair. She had belle palsy and shook real bad when she got old according to Luke Moody
in the 1900 census Harris Township, Stone Co, Arkansas Sheet 6 B enumeration District 133, Supv. Dist. 2 House 96-99, married 26 years at this time with 7 children. Parents listed as born in Tenn, she is listed as Aletha J on census born in Kentucky.
* this may another Henry Hill * * * Stone co. court house I found a deed she had signed as the wife of Henry Hill as Mary J. Hill. Book of Deed #8, Page 498 & 499, they sold 53 acres for $80.00. Deed books NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 section of one township 15 No. Range 11 west 53 acres more or less to M. L. Crews or Crowe. dated Nov 1899.
She was living with her son Jim and daughter in-law Ruth when she was lost. Family legend and some of the old timers say Jim was gone off working and Ruth and a friend of hers killed her and buried her in an old out house and poured lime on her to dissolve the bones. I found a newspaper article in the Baxter bulletin on her disappearance Nov 5, 1943 paper. John Bowers, sheriff stated it was the first case he had without a clue or motive.
I Have a copy of the Application for a Confederate Widows Pension that she filed for stating her birthday and death date of Henry. However the form lists him as William Henry. The witnesses were R.H. Hanks (whose name appears as registrar on several of John Hill's children birth certificate) and W. W. Jeffery. Both of these people were living close by on the 1920 Izard Co. census at Mt. Olive Page B 433 Sheet 14
