| I am researching my Pearce/Pierce family ancestors in the late 1700's thru 1850's from NC to TN to MO. My great great grandfather was known to us as James Pearce, though we have reason to believe that his name may have been Benjamin. He was born around 1830 probably in NC and later moved to TN (Bradley Co.) and died during the civil war. He had a brother named Elijah, another brother known to us as D.R or D.S. Pearce. We believe that his name was Doc Soloman. It is known that the family moved to TN at some point, and then later into MO about 1860. In the process of doing all of this research, we have gathered a great deal of information on many of the descendants of Michael Pearce/Pierce (some 5000 of them, most with source notes) and would be happy to share any information that we have and/or compare notes. Also we are looking for any information that anyone has with the surname of Boyts. This was the surname of my paternal grandmother and it is a very uncommon name. The information that we already have is printed below in the report on the descendants of Philip Boyts. Any additions, corrections or information would be greatly appreciated. |
