He married Celia Ann Morgan Abt. 1849 in Bradley Co., TN31, daughter of James Morgan and Sabre Dugger. She was born July 12, 1832 in Franklin Co., NC32, and died May 18, 1883 in Christian Co., MO32.

Notes for James G. Pearce:
Military Records indicated birth year of 1833. Possibility of deception on his part. His age at enlistment into 8 Missouri Cavalry (USA) in 1862 would have been 31 based on other records. Giving his birth as 1833 would have made him 29 and younger than Celia, but there may have been some reason for giving the Army the false birthdate such as some arbitrary age limit.

Authors Note (Danny Pearce) Our family has a photo of James dressed in his Civil War Uniform.

Will of Cecilia A. Morgan Pearce

I, Celia A. Pearce, of Lincoln Township, the County of Christian and state of Missouri being of sound mind do make this my last will.

      I give, devise and bequeath my estate and property, real and personal as follows. That is to say

      I give, devise and bequeath unto my son, William B. Pearce, the South East Quarter of the North West Quarter of Section Thirty Two (32) in Township Twenty Eight (28) of Range Twenty Three (23) also my Wagon, Reaper and Horse Hay Rake.

      I give, devise and bequeath to my sons, Granville H. Pearce and Henry LaFayette Pearce to them jointly, the South West Quarter of the South East Quarter of Section Thirty Two (32) of Township Twenty Eight (28) of Range Twenty Three (23).

      I have heretofore given to my sons Samuel H. Pearce, Joshua P. Pearce and James F. Pearce various articles of personal property and therefore they are to take no right or interest in Personal Property or Real Estate given devised and bequeathed.

      In witness whereof I have signed and sealed and published and declared this instrument as my will at my residence in said Township, County and State aforesaid this second day of January A.D. 1882.
