UTINAM PATRIBUS NOSTRIS DIGNISIMUS

"May we be worthy of our forefathers"

Scots~Swedes~Swiss~German

ABNER WALKER and JANE DAMRON were my Great Great Grandparents and moved from Kentucky to McDonough County Illinois in 1830.Abner was a contractor, natural mechanic that developed a design of wooden water pumps that were used throughout Western Illinois and Eastern Iowa. In my search for my family roots I have discovered many pieces of the puzzle and have placed many articles in my photograph section of this web site.I hope you take time and enjoyed my collection of family history.

MILDRED WALKER and RICHARD REYNOLDS FOUKE were my Great Grandparents and this web site is redecated to their memory.

PETER JOSEPH ZIMMERSCHIED & NELLIE GRACE FOUKE were my Grandparents. My Grandmother Grace influenced my life and I am greatly indebted to her and will keep her in my memory forever.

ANDREW OLAF PEARSON & MARY FLORENCE MITCHELL were my other Grandparents and I have added information I have found about them on this site and I also dedicate this web site to their memory.

My Swedish family members were born in Skarvangen, Sweden dates are as follows: Anders Persson October 15,1827 married Sara Nilsdotter in 1859,born April 17,1840, daughter of Nils Olsson and wife Elisabeth Andersdotter in Skarvangen.

My Grandfather; Anders Olav Persson born 1867, had name changed upon entry to America, English version Andrew Olaf Pearson.

"Its up to us...to work together for progress and humanity
so that our grandchildren, when they look back at us, can
truly say that we not only preserved the flame of freedom,
but cast its warmth and light further than those who came
before us."
- President Ronald Reagan, 1982

How Green Was My Valley ~ By Richard Lewellyn

"I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me,those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father, and his father, and in front, to see my son,and his son, and all the sons upon sons beyond.

And their eyes were my eyes.

As I felt, so they had felt, and were to feel,as then,so now,as tomorrow and forever.
Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had no beginning, and no end, and the hand of his father grasped my father's hand, and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand, and all,up and down the line that stretched from
Time That Was,to Time That Is,and is Not Yet,raised their hands to show the link, and we found that we were one, born of Woman, Son of Man,in the Image, fashioned in the Womb by the Will of God, the Eternal Father.
I was of them, they were of me,and I in all of them"

And this goes for all sisters as well. God Bless Us All !

  • Grandmother Grace N.Zimmerschied~Letter 1966. (273 KB)
Grandmother Grace~"I and Peter Zimmerschied was married in Sundance, it still has no railroad, it lies in a valley and your Grandpa and I had to drive(wagon)out to his ranch. There we no cars in 1907.There were 5 brothers living out there, your Grandpa had built a 4 room frame house, the first one built,as all others about that time were homes built of logs of timber. They made good rooms warm and papered inside. We had lots of nice things sent us from home, As my only brother,Mother lived with him and his wife in Hot Springs,S.Dakota. I was very happy. I had lived in a city most of my girl hood, so the ranch was so free and country so beautiful. The ranch homes were close so we were never lonesome. So in 1909 Paul was born, in 1911 Ida was born- 1913 your Dad was born all ok at Hot Springs S.Dakota. We were so happy and the folks came out to Ranch or we would go down to our RR Station which was Moorcroft. Your Grand dad's Brothers came on a visit each year, two lived back East, 6 lived West, All were young and married all are passed away......your Dads Generation is still living. So the Zimmerschied name will live on ...
