Alethea Stark went to live with Judge Law and wife, Alethea Jones, her cousin and adopted sister.Her father had died in 1818, her mother died in 1831 and her brother was murdered by Dr. Philip Minis in 1832. Two years after the death of Alethea Jones Law, there being six young children to be taken care of, the youngest being only three years old, Alethea Stark married Judge Law.There were ten children by Judge Law's marriage to Alethea Stark.
The Marriage Settlement of Alethea Stark and William Law is recorded in the Chatham County Deed Book AAA, page 415.Indenture 20 Feb. 1834. William Law and Alethea Jones Stark of one part and Francis McLeod of 2nd part . . . Alethea Jones Stark has considerable property, including many slave and tract of land in Washington County and lots in Savannah, etc. Marriage license #1650, William Law to Alethea Stark, Spinster, license dated Feb. 20, 1834, marriage 20 Feb. 1834 by W. Preston.
Alethea Jones Stark Law's date of death is variously reported as 12 April, 1872 and 12 April 1873.
