In 1824, the year of her husband's death, Sallie Bland Dickens Brodnax, and her small son, Richard, moved to Fayette County with her brother, Peter Randolph Bland and his wife.They lived at Woodlawn with her brother.
At the death of her nephew, Osceola Bland, Sallie Dickens Bland Brodnax inherited part of her brother's plantation, Woodlawn.Eliza Bland Yandell inherited another portion of the plantation.Sallie's son, R. T. Brodnax, inherited her interest and purchased that of Mrs. Yandell.In 1873, Brodnax sold 368 acres of Woodlawn to Richard Rives.
