It is family tradition that John Seay was a Revolutionary War Soldier at age 16 [Descendants of Abraham Seay, p. xviii, says "John See served in the Twelfth Va. Regt. of the Continental Line.]About 1805, John Seay and his wife and probably 2 children, including William W., emigrated from near Danville, Virginia to Smith County, Tennessee."
Mrs. George R. Bouton, Lebanon, TN, says "John Seay and wife came from Virginia about 1805, settled on the Troudale Ferry Pike, in the edge of Smith County, about 8 miles east of Lebanon, Wilson County, Tenn.The farm is now owned by Dan Seay, a descendant.John Seay and wife, Sarah McCarty, are buried in private graveyard in rocked up box tomb, no inscription."
