The Morrells of ScotlandUpdated March 14, 2010 |
|
| Francis Morrell, spade maker, and his wife Cecilia Cairney, left County Down Ireland in the late 1700s and settled in Scotland. A son Daniel was born about 1810 at Muirkirk Ayrshire and son Thomas was born about 1811 at Dalkieth Midlothian. Another son John Morrell was born either in Ireland or Muirkirk Ayrshire about 1812? There were likely other children but so far they have not been found. Any Morrells in Scotland with the given names of Daniel,Thomas, James, Francis, or Cecilia are very likely descendants of Francis and Cecilia. Although the Morrells travelled throughout Scotland their descendants lived for many years in the towns of Dundee, Rothesay, and Oban. |
