Welcome to the Peelman Family Home Page!

I currently have a gap in my research. I am looking for any information on two brothers, James and Samuel Peelman, who I first find in the 1860 Illinois Census in Crawford County. James and Samuel were living on two separate but nearby farms as hired workers. Samuel served in an Illinois regiment during the Civil War, was later married, and is buried in Palestine, Il cemetery. James, my great-great-grandfather, had a son in 1864, Samuel Walter Peelman, with Hanna Lake. I don't believe James and Hanna were ever married. Hanna married John Henry Vanover in 1867 and the two raised Samuel Walter Peelman. James is my real interest since I can't find much information at all about him. He was born around 1841.

I appreciate any information you might have.
