My Mellors as the title suggests lived in Idle and nearby places including Windhill, Baildon, Shipley and Bradford. My grandmother was Ethel Mellor and she married Edward Quinn. We have researched the many names connected by marriage and the results can be seen on the relevant pages.
We were surprised at how many emigrated in the 1800s but have found that two Parkers went to Australia and a Skirrow to America. We even found a Rycroft, who was in the Isle of Wight Militia and his family on the 1881 census whose address was Carisbrook Castle!
We have searched the records in Bradford Central library and found or verified some of the information there. We have also used the internet and found many on the IGI index or other online records and have had information passed on from other researchers. I received a lot of information about the Parkers from Neil in Australia and details about the Seniors from John, amongst others. We have checked most of this ourselves wherever possible either using the records in the library or the various sources on the internet.
It's like doing a complicated jigsaw puzzle sometimes but hopefully we got it right!
