Notes for Mary Jane Penn: The following is an email sent 12/9/01 from Jim and Sally Hudson.
Sally's great grandfather, Napoleon Bonaparte Anderson, married Mary Jane Penn who was a daughter of John Anderson Penn and a sister of John Wesley Penn (the Penns of the farm at Cedar Hill State Park). Just recently, I believe (99%), we have established a second connection (not ancestral) for Sally with the Penns. Sally's grandmother, Nora Potter, grew up in Cedar Hill. Nora's older sister, Maude Potter, married Sidney Johnson Penn who was a son of John Wesley Penn.
First I should introduce myself and where we fit in. My wife, Sally, is a Penn descendent. We are both misplaced Texans and have lived in Southern California since I retired from the Air Force out here in 1980. She and Pat are cousins (third, once removed). I'm attaching a picture of Pat and Sally that was taken recently when Pat was visiting his daughter at Camp Pendleton. We were amazed by the similarities in their coloring. While Sally is interested, I'm the one who's trying to catalog all of our family lines.

While back in Texas this past August, we visited Sally's home place in Midlothian and then the Cedar Hill area including the State Park. I had been in contact (or tried to be) with different people at the Penn Farm to see if there was any interest in old pictures of the Anderson farm. Pat has seen the pictures that Sally has of the farm house which was quite impressive for it's time and place. We also visited the Little Bethel Memorial Cemetery between Cedar Hill and Duncanville. We only walked the pioneer section where several Penns and Potters are buried. I have a list of the graves we found and will send you a copy if your are interested.
