Notes for Thomas Wiley Dowdy: Thomas and Arvie came to Willow, Oklahoma Territory, about 1899 from Covington TX. Their homestead was east of Willow.
In November 1901, Thomas William Dowdy had taken a bale of cotton to the gin in Granite, OK. While waiting for the cotton to be ginned, something spooked the team of mules and caused Thomas to fall off the dock onto his head, causing his death.
Arvie Zenia was with child at the time of the death of Thomas. On Febuary 27, 1902, Lewis Floyd was born during a big blizzard. A neighbor rode a horse to Granite from Willow to get a doctor, but the doctor could not come. He then went to Mangum, and the doctor there was not able to get out in such bad weather. Arvie Zenia hemorrhaged to death while waiting. The horse that the neighbor rode died also. Thomas W. Dowdy and Arvie Zenia Dowdy are buied in the Rock Cemetery, near Granite, OK.
