Many Years ago, William Pendley, a young man determined to find a better Way of life, decided to go to the New Country America. Only one problem excisted for him to be able to make this trip, He had no money. As was the case with many young people of the time, he indentured himself to the wealthy Dr. Thomas Girard. This is to say, he trade his labor services in exchange for passage to the New World. As told by TE Pendley in his book, William Pendley Came to the New World some time in 1632. Twenty names including William's Pendley's name were included on Dr Thomas Girards, Passenger list. Dr. Girard was active in politics and was part of Lord Baltimores Counsel. For some reason Dr Girard joined in a revolt against the Counsel, as a result Dr Girard was ordered to leave Maryland. Dr. Girard packed his family and his servent and were next found in Virginia. |
