Researching the descendants of John PENNYCUFF (PENNICUFF?) (1776-abt 1830)who settled in Overton and FENTRESS counties, Tennessee. Some later moved to Southern Kentucky, especially Cumberland and Clinton Counties. John Pennycuff is believed to be one of six children of Johann Phillipp Bennighof, born in Germany, arrived in Philadelphia in 1751. John's brother, Jacob (abt 1787-aft 1850) traveled with John to Fentress County but apprently went on soon to settle in Lawrence County, Tennessee. Other names of interest are WHITEHEAD, GARNER, PERDUE, APPLEBY, BARTLETT, GLIDEWELL, HOLBROOK, ans SIMPSON. |
