She married Leonard Meshach Penney on 13 Jan 1938 in Tacks Beach, NF, CA¹²²⁷, son of John Albert Penney and Phoebe Hodder.

Notes from interview between son Lawrence and his mother -

Her Mother died three-days afer birth. Taken and raised by her Grandmother
(Eleanor Smith, former Eleanor Senior). Her Grandmother died when
she was 12-years old. She then moved in with her father & step-mother
for one winter. At age 13-years she started working, doing house-keeping
for various families on Port Elizabeth (Flat-Islands) and Oderin, Placentia Bay, and then moved to Tack's Beach to work as a maid for Saul Reid. It was while working there that she met and married Leonard Penney.
