Notes for Phoebe Hodder: Heavy-set woman. Died with a Stroke. She was a child of her mothers first marriage. Her father died (lost at sea) and her mother married a Withers.
This step-father Withers was curel to her and shipped her to Tacks Beach to do house keeping for a Harry/Jane Monks (Coppers Cove) - she was 7 or 8-years old at the time.
She had a hard life with the Monks. She said she had to sleep on bows and slaved for the Monks. Her daughter (Aunt Mary-Ann) was hit by Jane Monks and she went after her and ripped her dress off. (Some of the grand-children say she was a Hooper and some say she was a Jarvis from Port au Bras)
Phoebe's daughter Jane said that Phoebe mother (Jane's grand-mother) re-married a Dowden and she had several sons and daughters with him - Phoebe's half brothers & sisters.
