PEOPLES: (paternal Grandfather) Earliest is John Peoples b:~1800 father of John Peoples b:1831 in Kilmacrenan, County Donegal, Ireland married 02 Oct 1851 to Elizabeth Dill b:~1827 in Ireland.These Ulster Scots immigrated to Delaware, USA in the mid-1880s.The Peoples family originally were Scots from the lowlands of Peebleshire in the Border Counties, however the line hasn't been traced to this with any clarity as yet
MCRAE: (paternal Grandmother) line back through late 1600's in Inverness Scotland. With Thomas McRae married to Jannet Crookshank ~1712.The McRaes immigrated to Canada in the mid-1800s and subsequently through Maine southward to Delaware.
PLOWMAN: (maternal Grandfather) Back through the late 1600's with Jonathan Plowman arriving from Yorkshire, England in 1700 at the age of 12 under 'questionable circumstances' in the Port of Baltimore, MD, USA.He later married Ann Vickory Stevenson also from England and they had three children.The Plowmans remained in the Baltimore area until the early 1900s when my grandfather moved to Wilmington, Delaware as an employee of the DuPont Company.This is where my parents met and grew up together.
VAN HOUTEN: (maternal Grandmother) The Van Houtens have been in America longer than any of the other lines, with a long and storied history in the Paterson/Bergen County, New Jersey area (northern New Jersey).They are prominently mentioned in a number of accounts of this area.The Van Houtens came to America from Houten, Utrecht, Netherlands (Holland) in the mid-1600's with this lineage traced back to the mid-1500's in Amsterdam.
