From the Archives at Georgetown University, Society of Jesus. The Will of Thomas Upton In the name of God Amen. September the twenty sixth one thousand seven hundred (and) seventy three. I Thomas Upton of Prince Georges being sick in Body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to the Almighty and calling to remem= brance the uncertain Estate of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield to Death when it shall please God to call do make constitute ordain and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and from following Revoking and annulling by these presents all and every testament and testaments Will and Wills hereto= fore by me made and Declar’d either by word or writing and this is to be taken only for my last Will and testament and now for the sitting of my temporal Estate and such goods Chattels and Debts as it hath pleased God far above my deserts to bestow upon me I do order five and dispose of the same in manner and form following. (Viz) I give and bequeath to my Wife Martha Upton my feather Bed and furniture that I now Lye on. Item I give and bequeath to my (line drawn through my) five of my children viz Sarah Upton, Elisabeth Upton, Archibald Upton, Samuel Upton, Elenor Upton, all the land that I am now possessed of. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sarah my former Wifes Saddle, further it is my Will that the remainder of my Effects to be sold and Lodg’d in the Executors hand till they come of Age, I also destitute and appoint Cornelius Hurley Executor of this my last Will and Testament.
