Obituary:
Guy B. Williams, son of Mickel and Julia Williams was born August 25, 1902 at New Ulm, MN. He moved to McGrath MN as a child and attended rural school there. On March 3, 1964, he was married to Clara Goldberg and they made their home in Sandstone. He worked for U.S. Steel in Duluth for several years and had also worked at the Sandstone Feed Mill. Most of his years were spent farming and logging in the Sandstone and Hinckley areas. He retired in1982. Guy died Sunday, May 6, 1990 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake following a lengthy illness. He had attained the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 11 days. He is survived by his wife Clara; a son, Mike of Sandstone; a daughter, Juanita Frehse of Rutledge; a step-daughter, Irene Pentercost of Inver Grove Heights, MN; 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Clara Mae Williams was born to Charles and Susan Goldberg on September 6, 1927 in Pine Lake Township near Finlayson where she grew up and attended rural school. On March 3, 1963 she was married to Guy Williams at Pine City. They lived in Sandstone where they farmed and Clara worked for Arrowhead Rotor and Stator for 14 years, retiring in 1990. She had also worked at the Sandstone Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. She enjoyed fishing, collecting knick knacks and helping on the farm. Clara died Monday, July 1, 1996 in Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake. She had attained the age of 68 years, 9 months, and 25 days. She will be lovingly remembered by a son Mike of Sandstone; a daughter, Irene Goldberg of Inver Grove Heights, MN; a sister, Alma Voeltz of Aitkin; 2 grandchildren, Patrick and Michael; and special friends, Ken and Lorene Vork of Hinckley and Art and Nancy Frehse of Cloquet. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband and 5 brothers. Blessed be her memory.

Mike Williams, Funeral services for Mike Williams of Sturgeon Lake will be held Thursday February 13th at the Faith Lutheran Church at 2 pm with Rev. Milton Johnson officiating. Casketbearers will be John Fitz, Roy Auld, Dick Rye, Henry Christensen, Adolph Behrman, and Ralph Molis. Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery at Willow River. Mike Williams was born in Renville County MN on March 4, 1910. He was married to Hjardis Sundberg on December 7, 1946 at McGregor, MN. He served in the 32nd Infantry during WWII. On February 9, 1964 he passed away while on his way to work cutting wood near the Joe Herubin farm at McGrath. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife Hjardis of Sturgeon Lake, son Thomas of Sturgeon Lake, three brothers, George of Walnut Grove, MN, Guy of Sandstone, and Ralph of Sturgeon Lake. Julius Zamzow Rites Held Thursday
Funeral services for Julius Zamzow will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Morgan for Julius Zamzow, a 92 year old Morgan man who died Monday morning. Mr. Zamzow suffered a stroke August 2 and died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Mude, ten miles northeast of Morgan. Rev. W. Storm will officiate. Grandsons will be pallbearers and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the Mude home Wednesday afternoon until Thursday noon. Mr. Zamzow, a Three Lakes township farmer many years, was born November 8, 1865 in Pommern, Germany. In 1892 at Morton he married Amelia Block who died in 1945. He is survived by nine children, Emil of Des Moines, IO.; Mrs. Paul (Ida ) Hopp, Franklin; Mrs. Ella Frietag, Mankato; Mrs. George (Emma) Williams, Walnut Grove; Mrs. Alfred (Mabel) Mude, Morgan; Edward, Franklin; Mrs. Arnold (Anna) Johnson; and Mrs. Chester (Frieda) Hansen, Springfield; and Mrs. Fritz (Lilly) Gehrt, Lamberton. There are 29 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Franklin for Ella Freitag, 94, formerly of the Morgan area, who died Friday, Dec. 27, 1991 at the Burns Manor Nursing Home of Hutchinson. Rev. Rob Kemppainen will officiate and Jan Rodvik will be the organist. Pallbearers will be Jim, Roger, and Rick Freitag, Ivan Hagen, Rick Ball, and Jim Leuze. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Morgan with Nelson Funeral Home of Redwood Falls in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be today (Monday) from 5-8 pm and Tuesday from 8 am-noon at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services at the church. Ella M. Zamzow was born Aug. 9, 1897 in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County to Julius and Amilia Block Zamzow. She grew up on the family farm and attended country schools near Clements. On June 3, 1919 she married Clarence Freitag. The couple farmed north of Morgan until 1949. She then moved to Marshall and then to Mankato in 1953, where she lived until 1982. Then, she entered Franklin Health Care Center and remained there until she became a resident of Burns Manor Nursing Home in 1985. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Franklin. Survivors include three sons Ervin and wife Althea of Danube, Charles and his wife Loretta of Mankato, and Sylvester and his wife Ruth of Fairfax, three daughters Florence Helenbolt of Park Rapids, Delores Miller of Marshall, and LaVone Christnagel of Mankato, 39 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and four sisters Frida Fredrick of Springfield, Mabel Mude of Morgan, Anna Johnson of Springfield, and Lilly Gehrt of Lamberton. She was preceded in death by one son Melvin, one daughter Geneveve and several brothers and sisters.

You are invited to help celebrate Mabel Mude's 95th birthday on June 13 at an open house from 2 to 4 pm at Gil-Mor Manor, hosted by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Bev. Mabel (Zamzow) Mude was born June 14, 1903 in Three Lakes Township near Clements, where she also attended school. She married Alfred Mude (now deceased) on May 26, 1937 in St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan. They have one son, Dale. They lived in the Morgan area and were happily married for 49 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed canning, baking, crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. She has been a resident of Gil-Mor Manor since October 1996. Mabel has one grandson, Greg, and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Brittany. One grandson, Perry, is deceased.

Lil Gehrt, 86, Dies May 7 at St. John's Lutheran Home
Lillie "Lil" Gehrt, 86, died Thursday, May 7, 1998 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield. Services were at 10:30 am Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton with burial at Lamberton cemetery. Kluegal-Sturm Funeral Services of Lamberton handled arrangements. Pallbearers were Rich Klouda, Steve Kittelson, Bill Pfarr, Mickey Wendland, Dan Gehrt, and Charley Smith. Lil was born April 6, 1912 in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County to Julius and Amelia (Block) Zamzow. She grew up on the family farm in Three Lakes Township. Following her marriage to Francis, the couple farmed and lived at several different farmsites all in Redwood County. They moved to Lamberton in the early 1950's and divorced in 1965. She spent her time taking care of Larry and Lloyd and living in her new home since 1988. She enjoyed cooking, farming, especially driving the tractor, driving downtown to grocery shop in her car, embroidery and visiting with special neighbors.
