Notes for John McDonald:
Old Revolutionary War Soldiers and Widow's Pension, Paper in Provincial Archives:
1843 John M'Donald age 75, year of relief 1839. 1846 John McDonald age 80 Springfield.

From "Education 1792-1970 in Springfield, NB" by Ernest G.C. Graham, p. 9
"there was a John McDonald who was said to be a Loyalist and could speak four languages, who was also a teacher at Springfield. As there were two or three John McDonalds in the same area, one just cannot say where he resided. He may have gone back to the U.S.A. for a few years after taking out his grant, but there was a John McDonald living in the Belleisle Bay area in 1821. At that time he joined the Masonic Lodge at Kingston and shortly after was listed as a Parish Official and a teacher in Springfield Parish. He may have been the John McDonald who was a Crown Land Surveyor, surveying for the Government in 1837."
