Notes for Armon Cravens:
Armon Craven of Washington Co, PA together with his brother Elisha, and members of his wife's Hathaway family came down the Ohio River to Maysville, KY early in 1787. They moved to the area of present day Montgomery County where members of the Hathaway family had previously located land. A few years later Armon moved to then Fayette County settling along East Hickman Creek in the area between the Bethany Pike and Logana Road. Elisha also settled in the north central part of present Jessamine County. Armon and his wife are buried in an unknown location on their own land which was later the farm of their son, John. Armon appears to have been a modest farmer all his life. The name Armon appears to be a modification of the original name Harmanus which appears in Washington County PA records. If so, his mother and not his father was probably of Dutch descent.
