My various ancestral lines converged in southcentral Illinois following migrations from the coastal states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and North and South Carolina. Some of the lines, such as BLACK, RILEY and SHRIMPLIN, traveled a northerly route into Knox County, Ohio and later down the National Road into Illinois. Other examples are: TAULBEE, from Kentucky, PETTY, from Georgia, WALLACE, from Tennessee and DESHAZO, from Alabama. Fayette and Shelby Counties in Illinois, was the eventual destination. Other surnames in my ancestry are HICKS, TUCKER, CUMMINS, MASSEY, CRAIG ... and the list grows.
