The Massey family has it's origin in several European countries. After immigrating here from the Isle of Ely, England, apparently the family settled first in New England, then moved South as in "Gone to Georgia" and "Gone to Texas". Some researchers have dated the first Massey as coming from France to England with William the Conqueror and also others have them there around the year 1380. I do not have proof of relationships except about 4 or 5 generations back. A lot of the Georgia information is supposition as records were both sketchy and some probably destroyed during the Civil War.

Other names in my lines are Smith, Cavender, Harris, Chambliss, Roddy, Daniel, Fancher, Harvey, McKinzey, and Shewmake.
