Currently researching surnames of my maternal ancestors: MCKINLEY, SCHOFIELD, MCCAULEY HARVEY, GRACE, HOPE, CAPPS, SANDRY, and my paternal ancestors: PHAIR, DOUGLAS and SMITH.
WILLIAM MCKINLEY born @1861 in Glasgow or Perth County, Scotland
d 19 Oct 1913. Married MARY AGNES MCCAULEY 19 Aug 1885 in St. Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moines, IA. (Note: There is no record of this marriage as Father Brazil became ill and died before recording it). Mary was b 9 Aug 1866 d 19 March 1949.
Children: EDWARD JOSEPH MCKINLEY, my great-grandfather,
b 9 June 1891 D 9 Dec 1954.
William became a United States Citizen on 1 Feb 1886 in Iowa, where he lived most of his married life. He was a tailor. Parents: His father's first name is unknown. His mother's last name was LANDER. They were both born in Scotland.
William had three sisters: Mary (d1911), Agnes (b1865)and Margaret. All the children were born in Scotland. The children came to the United States with their mother after Mr. McKinley deserted the family. Mrs. McKinley remarried and never spoke of Mr. McKinley again.

WILLIAM BAZIL HARVEY b1861 in Dunkirk, NY and died in IA.
Married ANNA E. GRACE, b1861 in Waterbury, VT d11 Nov 1938 in Des Moines,IA. They were married in the early 1880's.
Children: They had 13 children of which 11 lived to adult, They were MARY ANTONETTE HARVEY, my great-grandmother, (b 4 Jan 1884/90), Grace, Joseph M.Helen, John A., Cecelia, Ruth, Thomas F.,William J., and two other girls who lived to adulthood and married but their names are not known. There were also two who died as infants.
Anna was born in Waterbury, Vermont and died in Des Moines, Iowa. She had two sisters. One married a P.H. Reis and the other married a J.M. Schultz. Her parents, Michael Grace and Mary O'Niel,were both born in Ireland and were described by family as pioneers of Adair County, Missouri.
His parents, JOHN HARVEY and MARY CASEY were also born in Ireland.

SPRATT ALEXANDER SCHOFIELD b 17 Nov 1831 d 2 Nov 1910
Married EMILY HOPE on 10 Feb 1874 in Shelby County, Missouri.
Emily was b 12 Feb 1835 d 11 May 1908. They had two children: EDWARD HENRY SCHOFIELD (my great-grandfather) and Charles Paul.
He was previously married to LAVINIA or VIRGINIA NOBLE They were divorced sometime between 1870 and 1874). They had ten children: Rufus B.,Robert F., Benjamin T., Homer W., Francis Ellen, William A.,Mary Jane, and Cormac. There were two more children who died.
Alexander was born in Marion County, Missouri and Emily was born in Virginia. They were both living in Alamogordo, New Mexico at the time of their deaths, although he died while visiting his daughter in Corpus Christi, Texas. They are buried in Alamogordo, NM. His Parents were ELLIS SCHOFIELD of Virginia and ELIZABETH MEFFORD of Kentucky. Alexander had at least three sisters. The name "Spratt" was used be many family members at different times of their lives, as a first name, as a middle name and as a nickname. We are currently trying to verify the name of ELLIS SCHOFIELD's father, believed to be HENRY SCHOFIELD, born @1794 in Virginia.
Emily's parents were JOSHUA HOPE and AMASSA GORE, both from Virginia.

WILLIAM JOHN SANDRY b 11 Sept 1846 d 9 March 1906
Married CALTHA C. CAPPS on 1 Nov 1868 in Adair County, MO
Caltha was b 10 Aug 1846 d 8 March 1920. They had seven children, including Etta (b 1874), Honor H. (b 6 Aug 1864/74), Charlotte Martha (B 11 April 1872), Alta (b 1891),EVANGELINE MATILDA SCHOFIELD (my great-grandmother)(b 10 Feb 1879), William John Jr. (b 14 March 1881)and Bertha Emily (b 24 Aug 1884).
William was born in Shulls, Wisconsin and Caltha was born near Cooksville, Missouri.
Her parents were Henry Capps and Charlotte Thorpe of Kentucky. His parents names are unknown, but it is thought his father was a Methodist minister who came over from England, and died @1857.
