He married (2) Cynthia Bennett (Dukes) on February 07, 1924 in Bloomington, Illinois, daughter of Jesse Bennett and Margaret Bauch.

Gardner-Ferris
William P. Gardner and Mrs. Edith Ferris were united in marriage at the Hotel Wilson at 8:30 Wednesday evening, the ceremony being performed by Police Magistrate J. Q. Jones.
Mr. Gardner is one of our best-known citizens, being active in fraternal circles, the fire department and similar organizations of a more or less public nature. For several years he has been the effficient janitor of the Moore Township High school, and is popular with the younger set as well as with the grown-ups. The bride has lived here only a few years, but is quite well known to a large share of the population. A few months ago she took the lease of the Hotel Wilson and is making a success of the business.

Gardner-Dukes

In Bloomington on Saturday afternoon, took place the marriage of William P. Gardner and Mrs. Cynthia Dukes, well known and much respected residents of this city, the ceremony being performed by Judfe William E. Radliff at his office in the county courthouse. The couple were unattended. They returned to this city and are residing in the Jackson flat, which was the bride's home. Mr. Gardner is janitor of the township high school building and very active in several lodges. Mrs. Gardner has resided here a number of years and has been successful as a cateress.
