Marriage Certificate in Person County, N C: KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS THAT WE, Thomas Phelps, Sr. and Benlty Gray are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina, in the full sum of One thousand dollars, current money, to be paid to the said State; for the payment of which well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally and firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated the 29th day of July A. D. 1845. The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That the above bounded Thomas Phelps, Sr. hath made application for a LICENSE for Marriage, to be celebrated between him and Polly McKissock of the county aforesaid; now in case it should not hereafter appear that there is a lawful cause or impediment to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and vitue.
