I am currently concentrating my research on the Shellhorn Family line; the first known relative is Balser Shellhorn who apparently arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1751 as he took the oath of alligiance to that state on 9/25/1751. His name at that time was given as Johann Balthas Scholhorn probably from Germany. Family stories spell his descendents name most commonly as Shellhorn (earlier records interchange spelling with Shelhorn). Balser married Mary Amweg around 1760's and owned land in Lancaster County, PA; later moving to an area near Oldtown, MD and owning a considerable amount of land in that region. His children were: John b. abt 1761(my line), Barbara, Catherine, and Mary. John and Balser both moved to MD and John's children were all born near Oldtown, MD: Henry b. 10/16/1796 married Anna Mariah Lore/Lohr; John, Balsor, Jacob, Nancy, and Polly/Mary who married to James Black. After their marriage, Henry & Anna Mariah moved to Berlin, Somerset Co, briefly lived in OH and then back to Somerset Co, PA. Later they moved to Knox Co, OH; and then Andrew Co, MO and on to Richardson and Pawnee County Nebraska in the 1850's. My line goes from Henry, to Jacob Balsor, to Peter Marcus, to Floyd Wilber, to my father Melvin Winford Shellhorn.
In addition to the Shellhorn line, I would like to pursue information on my father's maternal side which includes the Edie's from David Sr born around 1700(presumed to be born in Scotland, immigrated to Ireland and then to the United States) down to my grandmother, Jessie Mae Edie born in 1886 in Nemaha County, NE.

I have included a fairly lengthy, and sometimes thorough family tree which includes my family of Edie's and Shellhorn's; my husband's line including Phelps', Raymond's, Dooley's and Smith's; and recently added my daughter's husband's family including: Eldred's (English), Muir's(Scottish), Muchado's (Portuguese)as well as other names through marriages. We would all love any help with furthering our search and hope that our information may also help someone else. Through the internet, we just found an earlier Shellhorn relative, Balser Shellhorn. It was wonderful!!!
