Notes for F
RANCIS MCCUNE:
IS THIS THE BROTHER OF WILLIAM McCUNE? There are so many incidents that tie them together, same dates, same places, lots of the names are the same, both families married the same Mathers family and they even married into each others family. I feel very strongly that the two are brothers, but do not, as yet, have the proof I need. Assuming that they are, I am including the family by continuing the same numbering sequence. Renetta Stribling

In 1743, he patented a large track of land Tee's River in Va. Three years later, he sold 200 acres for $9.00 in one transaction and in another, he sold 500 acres for $450.00. He then bought 227 acres on Timber Ridge for $3.00. There he established Beverly Manor Virginia (the McCune Plantation). He had three sons and "some" daughters.

Dower

A dower is the amount of an estate that a widow is entitled to upon the death of her husband. Under common law, it used to be that one-third of a man's estate went to his wife.
