Margaret A. Walker was born in Queens County, Ireland in 1865. Her parents were Michael Walker and Anne Byrne. She had 5 brothers Four of them came to the USA in the last half of the 19th Century. Her oldest brother, John, was a wood worker and possibly was responsible for carpentry training of George Lyon, whom Margaret married in 1890. She became mother of 3 daughters and 6 sons. She outlived her husband by 14 years and passed away in 1941. A description by one of her granddaughters: she spoke with a heavy Irish brough, had beautiful white hair and cooked at a wood stove.

They became the parents of 9 children and raised their family in West Philadelphia, PA. He was a carpenter by trade and at one time had a family business with several of his sons. He also owned a home in Wildwood, NJ, where he died in 1927.
