"Patrick Malone, about 50 years old and employed by the Boston and Albany railroad, fell backward from a car over the river yesterday morning, striking on his head and receiving a concussion of the brain from which he died in a few hours. He had long been a resident of upper Ferry Street and was a quiet and respected citizen."

      20. Jacob F Rowe, born 1833 in Rensselaerville? New York; died October 10, 1874 in New Haven, Conn. He was the son of 40. Daniel Rowe. He married 21. Mary Adelaide Marshall April 30, 1854.

Notes for Jacob F Rowe:
Jacob served in the 1st Massachusetts Cavalry, enlisting 4 August 1862, discharged 17 June 1863 reinlisting 6 February 1864 as Veteran Volunteer. He was wounded twice; first at Brandy Station, VA. on 9 June 1863 - a sabre wound to the face and his horse falling on him; second at Stony Creek Station (Jerusalem Plank Road) on 16 September 1864, a bullet wound to the knee and leg. This last wound earned him a disability pension of $6.00 per month and eventually contributed to his death ten years later.

Marital status shows as single, and a resident of New Haven at the time of his death.

Cause of death: Paralysis
Remarks: Disease of the brain, probable cause of paralysis.

I, George B Davis, do hereby certify that I was 2nd Lieut of Company F of the 1st Regiment of Mass Cavalry Volunteers, and am acquainted with Jacob F. Rowe who was a member of company E 1st Regiment Mass Cavl Vols, and, as I am informed, is an applicant for Invalid Pension. That the said Jacob F. Rowe was mustered into service about the 4 day of November 1861, and discharged for disability about the 17th day of June 1865, having been disabled from doing duty as a soldier, from on or about the 16 day of September 1864, while in the service of the

                        COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS,
Worcester Cunty, ss.
      I, Samuel Smith, Clerk of the City of Worcester and Notary Public, do hereby certify that G. A. Estabrook, Esquire, whose signature is affixed to the Certificate on the paper hereunto annexed, was at the date thereof, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, duly commissioned and qualified, and authorized by the laws of this Commonwealty to take the acknowledgment of deeds, and administer aoths; that full faith and credit is and ought to be given to his acts and attestations done in that capacity, and that his signature to said Certificate is genuine.

                        Given under my hand and official seals this sixteenth day of August in the year one thou-
