He married Elizabeth Atkinson Bet. 1768 - 1770, daughter of John Atkinson and Eleanor. She was born Abt. 1747 in Lebanon Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and died 24 June 1831 in North Lebanon Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.

1) Members of this family were members of Tabor First Reformed Church of Lebanon, PA.

2) Deed - March 1, 1826 - John Umberger Estate - North Lebanon Township, Lebanon County, PA Book C-481. John Umberger died intestate and leaving a widow and issue children. Administrators - son John Umberger and Matthias Gilbert (Matthias was an attorney). John Umberger estate to John Ives - 313 acres and 120 perches @ 6 lbs. per acre ($5020). Widow Elizabeth to receive interest on $1498 annually for life, then it is to pass on to heirs.
"Whereas at an Orphans Court held at Lebanon for the County of Lebanon, PA, on the 12th day of November 1824 upon the petition of Thomas Weir , intermarried with Anna, one of the daughters of said deceased, praying the court to award an inquest to make partition of the said real estate of the said intestate."

3) P.W.U. - most descendants of John Umberger's two eldest sons, John and Philip, remained in Lebanon County, PA, for the next 3 or 4 generations.

Notes for Henry Umberger:
1) notes from F. B. Kegley (1877 - 1968) Henry Umberger, Sr. was a resident of South Fork of Reed Creek (west of Wytheville, in the Lebanon region). He received 600 acres by grant in 1800. The homestead had 300 acres. The remainder was sold off by deeds. He received an additional 440 acres west of homeplace by DEED in 1800 from Blessings. This tract was divided for his sons Henry, Jr. and Jonas later on.
2) WILL -- His will was written May 26, 1820 and probated February 13, 1821. Executors : sons Jonas and Henry, Jr. This will identifies John Umberger as his son-in-law.
3) "Proprietary and State Taxes, PA Archives, Series 3, Volume 17, page 738, Paxton Township, Lancaster County, PA. 1782, Henry Umberger - 125 acres, 3 horses, 4 cows. (note - P.W.U. - Paxton Township is in present day Dauphin County, PA. It is 18 miles west of Lebanon and about 7 to 8 miles N.E. of Harrisburg, PA.
