Welcome to my web page that hopefully will provide information about the surnames CONYERS, HOLMES and PICKLES, not only for my descendants but for scholars of the future. All the names are located in the Craven area of Yorkshire, England, and more specificaly in the Kildwick /Skipton areas.I hope to chart the origins of each name, not for an ego trip but as a means of putting some meat onto the bones of history. I started out as someone who regarded genealogy as a 'bit strange' a study of graveyards! It has become a passion and has brought me great pleasure in discovering the everyday lives of people who have had some small part in shaping those of us alive now. as the saying goes: - We cannot discover who we are until we find out where we have come from.
