A PICKEL / PICKLE / PICKELL Family Home Page

Hello, I am searching for information regarding the surnames 'PICKEL' 'PICKLE'and PICKELL particularly circa 1600-1700, New York State, Ontario and Quebec, Canada.
I have considerable information regarding the Pickle's in Quebec and Ontario, Canada. I believe that many of the Pickle's & Pickel's in Lower Canada may have their roots in 'JOHN PICKLE'(Pechtel?) a Loyalist who moved to Canada around 1783. It is said that he fought with Rogers Rangers, circa 1777, with two of his sons.
He was born in New York State we believe around 1738.
It is believed that he was born in N.Y. State and that he lived there for some time, most likely in Claverack, N.Y. He also lived in Alburgh Vt. before settling in Quebec.
Other names in the family circa 1700/1800 are: Church, Sweet,
New, Barnard, Baker, Coy & Cowan.
Is there a link between the New Brunswick Pickles and the Quebec/Ontario Pickles? The New York state (Stone Arabia) Pickles and the Quebec/Ontario Pickles?
Are the Pickle's/Pechtel's German Palatine's who arrived from Germany circa 1710 to N.Y. state?


It is my hope to find who John Pickle's (b. 1738) anscestors were. Probably in N.Y.,Claverack, Churchtown, Columbia county?
