Mr. Richard William Powell, 22, of 709 Glenmore St., Cumberland, died Thursday, Nov. 15, at his home. Born April 27, 1968, he was a son of Robert William Powell of Cumberland and Joan L. Snoots Powell of Brunswick.
Mr. Powell was a lead man for O'Sullivan Auto Parts Co. He was a 1986 graduate of Fort Hill High School, in Cumberland, and a graduate of Alleghany Community College, where he recieved an associate's degree in forest technology. He was a member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Cumberland.
Surviving besides his parents are paternal grandparent, Virgie M. Powell, of Cumberland; maternal grandparent, Herman A. Snoots of Springfield, W. Va.; a step-grandmother, Eleanor Parker Snoots, of Springfield; two sisters, Leslie J. Keidel of Reisterstown and Cassie K. Bridges of Norfolk, Va.; one nephew; and one niece.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David A. Depp officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

H. Stephen Snoots, 56, of Cumberland, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at his home.
Born November 8, 1948 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Herman Albert Snoots and Audrey Adeline (Webber) Snoots. Mr. Snoots was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Diana (Deffinbaugh) Snoots.
A United States Naval veteran during the Vietnam War, Mr. Snoots was owner and operator of the New Hope Assisted Living and was formally employed as the general manager of Days Wholesale Food Service. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter #172, the National Rifle Association, and the Winifred Road Church of Christ.
Mr. Snoots is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda L. (Rowley) Snoots; his sons, R. Scott Zegles and wife Michelle, Cumberland, Stephen L. Snoots and wife Carla, Olive Branch, Miss., and Jonathan A. Snoots and wife Melissa, Cumberland; his daughters, N. Michelle Zegles, Cumberland, Felicia D. Sifford, Egypt, and Tracy L. Stumbaugh and husband Scott, Oldtown, Md.; his sisters, Joan Powell, Frederick, and Diane Higson and husband Tim, Cumberland; six grandchildren, Ashten and Tyler Zegles, both of Cumberland, Stephanie and Andria Snoots, both of Olive Branch, Miss., Savannah Cartrette and Zoe Hast, both of Cumberland; a special brother-in-law and best friend, Raymond Rowley and his wife Suzanne, both of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, Md. (www.Adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Wednesday, June 29, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday, June 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 1, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Kennedy officiating. Military honors and casket guards will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #172 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Riley, Jim House, Jerry Witmer, Eddie Weber, Dale Peer, and Joey Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Horner and Bobby Reed.
Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Born May 30, 1941, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Harold Forrest and Mildred (Phillips) Carey.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Burdette) Carey; children, Jeff Carey and his wife, Carolyn, of Indiana and Cindy Palermo and her husband, Lou, of Washington Township; six grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Carey.
Visitation was at Hart Funeral Home Inc. A service was at the funeral home with the Rev. Archie Neale officiating. Interment was at Murrysville Cemetery.

Jan H. Carey, 64 of Murrysville, Pa., died Sat. Dec. 17, 2005. He was born May 30, 1941 in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Harold F. and Mildred Phillips Carey.
Jan graduated from Frederick High School in 1959 and worked as a car salesman for Tom Picketts used car lot in Frederick. He retired from HFC after 20 years of service as District Manager in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area.
Jan was the beloved husband of Eleanor Burdette Carey; he is surrived by son, Jeff Carey and wife Carolyn of Indiana, Pa. and daughter, Cindy and husband Lou Palermo of Washington Township, Pa.; six grandchildren, Nathan Carey, Louie and Zak Palermo, Nicholas, Stephanie and Ely Carey; a brother, Jerry Carey and wife Trish and nephew Shawn Carey and wife Kathy, all of Frederick.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 20, 2005 in Murrysville, Pa.
