Descendants of Mr. Burleson

Generation No. 1

1. MR.1 BURLESON died Unknown. He married UNKNOWN. She died Unknown.

Notes for M
R. BURLESON:
I have found info. stating that Aaron l father as being Sir Jesse Burleson and his mother as being Elizabeth ( Lnuk: Last Name Un Known). This is NOT proven in any way. I have also seen that he could have possibly been the grandson of Edward Burleson from New England. There were also Burlesons' in Brencepeth Wales as early as 1390 when there was a Thomas Burleson who was a member of a church in the area. Also found Dan Burleson stating that none of this is fact and this is just information that has been handed down from a reunion that was held in the late 1880's.

Children of M
R. BURLESON and UNKNOWN are:
2. i.   AARON I2 BURLESON, b. 1695, Caerleon, Manmouth, Wales; d. 1763, Rutherford Co., N.C./ Later Rutherford Co., Tennessee.
ii.   EDWARD BURLESON, b. Abt. 1708; d. Unknown.
  Notes for EDWARD BURLESON:
Edward is believed to be the first BURLESON to come to America in 1716. He supposedly lived in Jewett City, Connecticut. Most of his descendants are in the Northeastern United States such as MI., IN., OH., and East.
Info. taken from a brief history of the Burleson Family article by Dr. Solomon S. Burleson:
The first Burleson's in America were Sir Edward and his sons in Conn. and R.I. in 1716, and Aaron Burleson, (his brother or a near relative ) , came ten years later and located in Rutherford Co., N.C. They were pioneers in many states and in the formation of the government had a hand. The exact relationship of Aaron and Edward is not yet known, but the similarity of the names and characteristics transmitted along the line are good proof of consaguinity. The name Burleson is derived from BURLES or BULEZ, from which BURLY is derived. It originated in the mountains of Wales some 400 years ago and it was spelled BURLEYSON, BURLES, or BURLEZ, and originally meant Mountaineer. or thick, heavy, strong man.
The first published record on the Burleson family: Sunlight on the South Side, Lunenburg Co., VA. ( this list is from the mouth of falling Creek upward) list of Tytheables of Lunenburg Co., VA.
1748 Burleson, Aaron 1 Tythe
Johnathan 1 Tythe
1749 John 1 Tythe
1752 John 1 Tythe
Jno 1 Tythe
Hardiman, 1 Tythe
The Hardimans, Shipmans, and the Kuykendalls were all Virginia families. The BOONE family (Daniel), came to Virginia at this time.
Common Burleson names are: Aaron, Edward, James, John, Joseph, Johnathan.
Given names have been repeated often in most surnames, with no exception, our Burlesons followed family traditions in naming their children with repeated names and also tended to name their children after their parents and their siblings. This can be great at times, but can also lead to confusion as to which Burleson we are referring to. That is why dates, counties, states and Census records are so important in your research.

3. iii.   SUSANNAH FRANCIS BURLESON, b. Abt. 1717, St. Peters Parish, New Kent Co., Va.; d. 1770, St. Peters Parish, New Kent Co., Va..
