Descendants of Thomas Whitheford/Weatherford

38. URSULA7 WEATHERFORD (WILKERSON6, WILLIAM JR.5, WILLIAM4, WILLIAM WHITHEFORD/3, JOHN WHITHEFORD/2, THOMAS1 WHITHEFORD/WEATHERFORD) was born 1758 in Montgomery Co., North Carolina, and died 27 Feb 1835 in Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee. She married DAVID F. SR. BURLESON 1774 in Anson/ Montgomery Co., North Carolina, son of JOHN BURLESON and SARAH. He was born 1755 in Montgomery Co., North Carolina, and died 13 Aug 1832 in Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee.

Notes for U
RSULA WEATHERFORD:
Ursula is related to Chief Red Eagle. They shared the same kin. Red Eagle's kin being Richard Weatherford who's brother was Ursula's kin who was William Weatherford. Richard and William's parents were William Weatherford born 1678 and he was married to Susannah Waller who was born in 1680.
I have seen information that stated Ursula's surname as being BROOKS and that she was born in 1753. Also seen info. stating that she was an Indian Princess. My understanding has been that there is no such title as an Indian Princess? Someone correct me if they think I am wrong.
Ursula was not Creek Indian, due to the fact that William (Red Eagle) was, because it was his mother that was Creek Indian and not his father. Ursula may HAVE been Native American, BUT, not because of her being kin to Red Eagle.
Ursula would be full Blooded Cherokee if the statement that her brother William had made was true.
I have also seen information stating that Ursula was born in Lunenburg, Va.

AVID F. SR. BURLESON:
David F. Burleson Sr. is buried in the Burleson Cemetery at his home and next to his son Isaac and David's wife Ursula is also buried there but without a marker. He lived in Anson Co., N.C. since at least 1780 when he received a grant of land. On the 1790 Montgomery Co., N.C., I find David and his brother Isaac. About 1805, he would move most of his family back to his family's home farm in Rutherford Co., TN. Although David died in Murfreesboro, many of his descendants are found in Leon Co., Texas.
I have read that David Sr. mother was Eliza Byrd and I have also found it to be Sarah???
Davids' and Ursulas' farm joined the Hobson and Frederick Farms and that is how their children married into each others families in Rutherford Co., TN.
David served in Wade's N.C. Regt. in the Revolutionary War. David's original discharged papers were in the family of Dr. Haskell Burleson Talley who died in 1963. He was a descendant through marriage to David and Ursula's grand-daughter Kate Augusta Burleson and Edwin Wells Talley.

39. WILLIAM7 WEATHERFORD (WILKERSON6, WILLIAM JR.5, WILLIAM4, WILLIAM WHITHEFORD/3, JOHN WHITHEFORD/2, THOMAS1 WHITHEFORD/WEATHERFORD) was born 1759 in Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina, and died 1850 in Wayne Co., Tennessee. He married MARGARET ANN POLK Abt. 1780 in Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina, daughter of WILLIAM POLK and SARAH WEATHERFORD. She was born 1760 in North Carolina, and died Bef. 1850 in Wayne Co., Tennessee.

Notes for W
ILLIAM WEATHERFORD:
William was said to be full blooded Cherokee. This is info. I had received from Dixie that says she has found the Indian papers for some sort of monetary claim that they had submitted to the Cherokee Nation. She still has the copies of this application.
This William we believe to be the William that was in Wayne Co., Tn.
He had moved from East Tn., then into Middle Tn.
They were pioneer settlers of Pinhook ( Lutts ) Wayne Co., Tn. before 1815 and settled on a creek that was named for him and is called WEATHERFORD CREEK even today.
He had at least 11 children, six sons and five daughters.
James Heidlebaugh believes that this William ( supposedy Creek Indian of the Cherokee Nation) was also a son to one of the great Chiefs also.
Was Wilkerson Weatherford a Chief??
Most of William's children lived in the east Tennessee area.

William and his family appear on the 1820 Wayne County, Tennessee census. The census shows one male over 45; 2 males 18-26; one male 16-18; one male 10-16; one female over 45; 2 females 16-26; one female 10-16; and 2 females under 10 years old.

The 1830 Wayne County census shows one male 50-60; one male 20-30; one female 60-70; one female 20-30; and one female 15-20 years old.

The 1840 Wayne County census shows one male 70-80; one male under 5; one female 60-70; and one female 15-20 years old. We assume the children were two of William and Margaret's grandchildren.
